Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum (RVSM) is defined as the reduction of vertical space between aircraft from 2,000 to 1,000 feet at flight levels from 29,000 feet up to 41,000 feet. RVSM was implemented as a means to increase airspace capacity and access to more fuel-efficient flight levels. (a) Except as provided in paragraph (b) of this section, no person may operate a civil aircraft in airspace designated as Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum (RVSM) airspace unless: (1) The operator and the operator's aircraft comply with the minimum standards of appendix G of this part; and Jet RVSM's Christy DeYoung and John Clark were panelists in Session II of NCBAA's Small Flight Department webinar series held October 7, 2020.
